Things are coming along nicely now... I've been trying to make a more concerted effort to get things done. Still, progress is slow with only a couple of hours a night to work on things.

Anyway, got things down to bare bones this past month! Disassebled the camshaft housing, removed the lifters and camshaft, cleaned and reinstalled them in their fancy new home. Red powdercoating hand sanded and then clear coated should up the presentation factor. Also have been trying to clean 20 years and 155,000 miles of road grime off of her... she cleans up pretty well. Takes a lot more time but sure makes things look nicer. I also removed the old waterpump and installed a new (rebuilt) one. Notice I did NOT reinstall the belt covers. I figure I'll be in there enough... they just trap dirt, and she's not a daily driver anymore. Topped it off with some new pulleys.

Then moved on to finally attaching the stupid clutch hose. I broke my original brake reservoir trying to remove the 'special' factory hose and clamps. POS! Quickly scored a new one on ebay (amen for used parts online), and at that point I attempted to install the new hose onto the clutch slave cylinder. Whoever designed a plastic 90 degree nipple for that thing was a sadist. Finally got it attached, and installed the replacement reservoir.

Now I look forward to installing the new camshaft assembly, getting some belts installed and tensioned, and then I can get the cooling system back together. I'm hoping to attend a track day at Portland Int'l the first weekend in November with the Audi Club... lots of work to do before then
